PROHEART CERTIFICATION

Certification is required prior to the purchase and administration of ProHeart® 6 (moxidectin) and ProHeart® 12 (moxidectin) in your clinic. Certification involves a one-time commitment to watch a video providing product education. Veterinary technicians are encouraged to certify so that they can also administer ProHeart 6 and ProHeart 12.

The Certification video will take approximately 20 minutes. While there is no Certification quiz, you will be prompted at the end of the video to acknowledge your participation. You must agree that you understand 6 key points of product use before you are fully certified to order and use product.

In order to complete this Certification, please confirm your understanding of the 6 points below covered in the Certification video.

1

Client education

Review the benefits and risks of using ProHeart with dog owners; the Client Information Sheet is a useful tool to facilitate this discussion.

Advise owners to observe their dogs and contact you if they suspect potential drug toxicity, particularly in the first 24 hours after product administration.

2

Age indication

The first dose of ProHeart should be given to dogs in accordance with the label.

3

Administer ProHeart to healthy dogs

Prior to administration, the health of the patient should be assessed by a thorough medical history, physical examination and diagnostic testing as indicated.

Dogs receiving ProHeart should be tested for existing heartworms.

Additional specific diagnostic tests are not required to administer ProHeart. Individual testing may be indicated by attending veterinarian to assess health status.

ProHeart 12 is contraindicated in animals previously found to be hypersensitive to this drug or ProHeart 6.

Administer ProHeart with caution to dogs with pre-existing or uncontrolled allergic disease (including food allergy, atopy or flea allergy dermatitis). In some cases, anaphylactic reactions have resulted in death.
